THE ENTRY DEADLINE FOR FIDE RATED FOREIGN PLAYERS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR MINIMUM PRIZES IN THE OPEN SECTION HAS BEEN EXTENDED FROM MARCH 1 TO MARCH 21.

Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19107, directly across the street from Reading Terminal Market with 80 food vendors. Prizes $80,000 based on 500 paid entries (seniors, re-entries, GMs, IMs, WGMs count as half entries, U1100 Section as 40% entries), else proportional, minimum $60,000 (75% of each prize) guaranteed.

In 7 sections:

Open Section: $7000-4000-2000-1000-800-600-500-500-400-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000.

Under 2200/Unr, Under 2000/Unr, Under 1800 Sections:
each $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300; unrated may not win over $2000 in Under 2000.

Under 1600 Section: $4000-2000-1000-700-500-400-300-300-300-300.

Under 1400 Section: $3000-1500-1000-700-500-400-300-300-300-300.

Under 1100/Unr Section: $1000-700-500-400-300-300-200-200-100-100; unrated may not win over $300.

Unrated not allowed in U1800, U1600 or U1400 sections.

Mixed Doubles Bonus Prizes: best male/female combined 2-player team score: $1000-500-300-200. In Open Section, only the first 7 rounds are counted. Team must average under 2200; may play in different sections; register (no extra fee) before both players begin round 2.

For all tournaments, adjusted FIDE or foreign ratings, if higher than USCF, may be used. Players must disclose FIDE or foreign ratings when entering, or may later be expelled. Other over the board ratings such as club, league, scholastic, state or province, etc, adjusted if appropriate, may be used at our discretion if above USCF.  No rating below the latest official USCF rating, on the list corresponding to the ending date of the tournament, will be used. Ratings: April official USCF ratings used for Under 2200 to Under 1100; March FIDE ratings used for Open Section. Unofficial uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. Players must reveal foreign, FIDE and other over the board ratings, and these ratings, adjusted if necessary, may be used if higher than USCF. See also above.        

Prize limits: 1) If post-event rating posted 3/27/17-3/27/18 is more than 30 points over section maximum, prize limit $1500. 2) Players with under 26 lifetime games as of April 2018 official list cannot win over $500 in U1100, $1000 in U1400, $1500 U1600, or $2000 U1800. 3) Balance of any limited prize goes to next player(s) in line.

Open entry fee, for GMs, IMs & WGMs: $128 online by 3/27, $160 at site.

Minimum prize guarantees
in Open Section, to players who enter online by 3/21 and play all 9 games with no byes: US GM $300, foreign GM $700 (limited to first 6 to enter at chessaction.com, others $400), foreign IM/WGM $400, foreign FM/WIM $300, foreign FIDE rated $200.

Online late entry after 3/27: available until 2 hours before round 1, same price as entry at site.

Byes:
Half point byes OK all rounds, limit 3 byes, limit 2 in last 4 rounds. Open Section must commit before round 3, other sections before round 4. Half point byes available all rounds, including the last round. 

Bring sets, boards, clocks if possible- none supplied.

Hotel rates: $108-108-128, 215-625-2900, reserve by 3/16 or rate may increase; rooms could sell out earlier. AS OF ABOUT 3/5, ROOMS WERE SOLD OUT AT THE MARRIOTT ON SOME OR MOST NIGHTS.

We have arranged a $108 chess rate at Loews, a luxury hotel directly across the street. The rooms reserved at Loews all have only one bed, but a rollaway is available for $30/day (call reservations at 215-627-1200 for rollaway).
