NOTICE TO WORLD OPEN PLAYERS REGARDING
HOTEL RESERVATIONS:
Hotel rooms for the World Open are going
to be increasingly hard to reserve.
Continental Chess
blocked nearly 4,000 room nights at the Omni hotel. These are 99% sold
out.
There is limited availability at the Omni, but this is likely limited
to rooms with a King bed only and may not be available all nights.
CCA has arranged for an additional 340
nights at the Royal
Sonesta Hotel (about 1 mile from the tournament site):
Click
here for the hotel guest room reservations at our overflow hotel, the Royal
Sonesta Hotel.
The Royal
Sonesta will honor the Chess rate on all nights except July 3rd and 4th.
The rates on July 3rd
and 4th are $419 - this is a bargain in DC on those dates - it is the 250th
birthday of USA.
Once the rooms at
the Royal Sonesta are gone, CCA will not be able to get any more rooms at any
hotel in DC.
Once that occurs,
players may be able to find rooms at other hotels, but it will be hit and miss
and prices may be higher.
We have done the
best we can to make hotel rooms available, but with the 250th birthday
celebration, it is quite a challenge.
We appreciate
everyone coming to the World Open.
This year
Philadelphia was not an option anywhere in Philadelphia. Next year, we
will return to Philadelphia!

PLEASE NOTE: For all tournaments, adjusted FIDE or foreign ratings, if higher than USCF, may be used for foreign or recently foreign players. Players must disclose FIDE or foreign ratings when entering, or may later be expelled. Other ratings such as club, league, scholastic, state or province, etc, adjusted if appropriate, may be used at our discretion if above USCF. No rating below the latest official USCF rating, on the list corresponding to the ending date of the tournament, will be used. For 9 round events offering title norm possibilities, FIDE ratings are used. Click here for further details.

SPECIAL ADDRESS FOR DROPOUTS:
We receive so much
email that it is difficult to keep track of important messages, such as those
regarding players who have entered a tournament but will be unable to
attend. To simplify this task, we have set up a special email address for
mail regarding such withdrawals. It is Dropouts@Chess.US. Please use this
address for the following purposes:
1. To notify us that you will not be able to attend a tournament that you
entered. This should be done at least 2 hours before your first game.
2. To inquire about a credit or a refund from a past
tournament you entered but did not attend.
SPECIAL ADDRESS FOR PRIZES:
We have an email address for mail concerning prizes that
were not claimed at tournaments. It is Prizes@Chess.US. To contact us regarding
a prize due, please use this address so that we do not have to search for your
mail among hundreds of other emails.

To
avoid huge ballroom rent, most of our tournaments count on having many players
use guest rooms at the host hotel, and asking for the chess rate gives the
tournament credit. For all over the board tournaments, please stay at the
tournament site whenever possible and ask for the chess rate. Thank you
for your help!
