       Under 1000 Section, March 30-31: 7 rounds, G/40, d5.   


At the upscale, luxury Loews Philadelphia Hotel, rated Four Diamonds by AAA, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia PA 19107, in Center City one block from the world famous Reading Terminal Market with more than 80 food vendors.


LIGHTING WAS IMPROVED in 2012 in the Millennium Ballroom, which hosted most sections in 2011. The 200 overhead bulbs in this room, which in 2011 were each 2400 lumens, were replaced by bulbs that produced 4500 lumens. The same improved lighting will again be installed for 2013.

Prizes $75,000 based on 480 paid entries (seniors, re-entries, GMs, IMs, WGMs, U1300 Section as 50% entries, U1000 Section as 15% entries), else proportional, minimum $50,000 (2/3 of each prize) guaranteed. In 7 sections; you face only those in your section.


Open Section: $7000-4000-2000-1000-800-700-600-500-400-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000. FIDE rated, GM & IM norms possible.


Under 2200 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300.  FIDE rated.


Under 2000 Section:

Under 1800 Section:

Prize limits: 1) If post-event rating posted 3/26/12-3/26/13 is more than 30 points over section maximum, prize limit $1500. 2) Provisional players (4-25 lifetime games rated) cannot win over $1000 in U1300 or $2000 in U1600.  3) Balance of limited prize goes to next player(s) in line.

       3-day schedule (U2200 to U1300): Reg. ends Fri 10 am, rounds Fri 11 am, 2:30 pm & 6 pm, Sat 11 am & 6 pm, Sun 10 am & 4:30 pm.
       2-day schedule (U2200 to U1300): Reg. ends Sat. 9 am, rounds Sat. 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3:45 pm & 6 pm, Sun 10 am & 4:30 pm.

       Under 1000 schedule (NOTE CORRECTION): Reg. ends Sat. 9 am, rounds Sat. 10, 12, 2 and 3:45, Sun 10, 12 & 2.  NO SATURDAY 6 PM ROUND.

       4-day, 3-day, & 2-day schedules merge & compete for same prizes.  
      
Half point byes: OK all rounds; limit 3 byes, limit 2 in last 4 rounds, Open Section must commit before rd 2, other sections before rd 4.
 

Bring sets, boards, clocks if possible- none supplied.

Hotel has valet parking only, with a special chess rate of $30/day.  Many parking lots nearby charge much less, with rates lowest on the weekend.
