At the upscale, luxury Loews Philadelphia Hotel, rated Four Diamonds by AAA, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia PA 19107, in Center City one block from the world famous Reading Terminal Market with more than 80 food vendors.


LIGHTING HAS BEEN IMPROVED in the Millennium Ballroom, which hosted sections other than Open last year. The 200 overhead bulbs in this room, which last year were 2400 lumens, are being replaced by bulbs that produce 4500 lumens.

Prizes $80,000 based on 500 paid entries (seniors, re-entries, GMs, IMs, WGMs count as half entries, U1200 Section as 40% entries, U1000 Section as 15% entries), else proportional, minimum $60,000 (75% of each prize) guaranteed. In 8 sections; you face only those in your section.


Open Section: $7000-4000-2000-1000-800-700-600-500-400-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000. FIDE rated, GM & IM norms possible.


Under 2200 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300.


Under 2000 Section:

Prize limits: 1) If official rating 4/11-3/12 or unofficial post-event rating posted 4/4/11-4/4/12 is more than 30 points over section maximum, prize limit $1500. 2) Players with under 26 lifetime games rated as of 4/12 list may not win over $300 in U1000, $800 in U1200, $1500 in U1400 or $2500 in U1600.  3) Balance of limited prize goes to next player(s) in line.

Open entry fee: Free to GMs, IMs, WGMs; $150 deducted from prize. US players with current or former FIDE ratings of 2200 or over: $225 mailed by 3/27 or online by 4/2, $250 at site. Foreign FIDE rated players: $175 mailed by 3/27 or online by 4/2, $200 at site. Others: $375 mailed by 3/27 or online by 4/2, $400 at site.

Under 2200 though Under 1400 Sections entry fee: 4-day $224, 3-day $223, 2-day $222 mailed by 3/27, all $225 online by 4/2, $250 at site.

Under 1200 Section entry fee: 4-day $84, 3-day $83, 2-day $82 mailed by 3/27, $85 online by 4/2, $100 at site.


Under 1000 Section entry fee:
$32 mailed by 3/27, $35 online by 4/2, $50 at site.

 

Phoned entry fee: All $5 more than online entry fee, 406-896-2038 (entry only, no questions), available only through 4/2.

Online late entry after 4/2: Available until 2 hours before your first game; same price as entry at site.

 

Entry fee $100 less to seniors age 65 or over in U2200 through U1400.

Special 1 year USCF dues with paper magazine if paid with entry: Online at chesstour.com, Adult $30, Young Adult $20, Scholastic $15.  Mailed, phoned or paid at site, Adult $40, Young Adult $30, Scholastic $20.

Re-entry: $100, no re-entry from Open Section to Open Section.

       5-day schedule (Open only): Reg. ends Wed 6 pm, rds. Wed. 7 pm, Thu 12 noon & 7 pm, Fri 11 am & 6 pm, Sat 11 am & 6 pm, Sun 10 am  & 4:30 pm. 
       4-day schedule (U1200 to U2200): Reg. ends Thu 6 pm, rds. Thu 7 pm, Fri 11 am & 6 pm, Sat 11 am & 6 pm, Sun 10 am & 4:30 pm.
       3-day schedule (U1200 to U2200): Reg. ends Fri 10 am, rds Fri 11 am, 2:30 pm & 6 pm, Sat 11 am & 6 pm, Sun 10 am & 4:30 pm.
       2-day schedule (U1200 to U2200): Reg. ends Sat. 9 am, rds Sat. 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3:45 pm & 6 pm, Sun 10 am & 4:30 pm.

       Under 1000 schedule (NOTE CORRECTION): Reg. ends Sat. 9 am, rds Sat. 10, 12, 2 and 3:45, Sun 10, 12 & 2.  NO SATURDAY 6 PM ROUND.

       4-day, 3-day, & 2-day schedules merge & compete for same prizes.  
      
Half point byes: all; limit 4, Open must commit before rd 2, others before rd 4.
 

Bring sets, boards, clocks if possible- none supplied.

Parking:
Hotel has valet parking only, with a special chess rate of $30/day.  Many parking lots nearby charge much less, with rates lowest on the weekend.  Gateway Garage, 1540 Vine St (1 block from Sheraton Hotel) is about $5/day Sat & Sun, $18/day other days.

Special rules: Players must submit to a search for electronic devices if requested by Director. In round 3 or after, players with scores of  80% or over and their opponents may not use headphones, earphones or cellphones or go to a different floor of the hotel without Director permission.
