ChessLecture.com Grand Prix Points: 100 (enhanced)

8th annual Los Angeles Open. 5 rounds, 40/2, SD/1 (2-day option, rounds 1-2 G/75). Sheraton Four Points LAX, 9750 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90045. Special parking $5/day. Prizes $20,000 based on 230 paid entries (re-entries & $60 off entries count half), minimum $16,000 (80% of each prize) guaranteed.  5 seconds delay used for digital clocks, but no 5 minute time deduction.

 

In 6 sections.

Open Section: $2000-1000-600-400, clear or tiebreak win $100 bonus, top U2400/Unr (not a section) $600-300. FIDE rated.
Under 2300 Section: $1500-800-400-200, top U2100 (not a section) $500-250.  FIDE rated..
Under 2000 Section: $1500-800-400-200, top U1800 (not a section) $500-250.
Under 1700 Section: $1300-700-400-200, top U1500 (not a section) $500-250.
Under 1400 Section: $1200-600-300-200, top U1200 (not a section) $400-200.
Under 1000 Section: $700-400-200-150, trophies to top 3, 1st U800, U600, Unrated.

Unrated may enter any section, with prize limit U1700 $500, U1400 $300, U1000 $200; balance goes to next player(s) in line.

 

Top 5 sections entry fee: 3-day $113, 2-day $112 if check mailed by 9/29, all $115 online at chesstour.com by 10/4, $120 phoned by 10/4 (406-896-2038, entry only, no questions), $130 (no checks, credit cards OK) at site. 

 

EF for all in U1000 and unrated in U1400: All $60 less than above.

 

GMs free; $100 deducted from prize.  SCCF membership ($18, juniors $10) required for rated Southern CA residents.  Re-entry $60; not available in Open Section.  Unofficial uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. 

 

Special 1 year USCF dues with paper magazine if paid with entry. Online at chesstour.com, Adult $30, Young Adult $20, Scholastic $15.  Mailed, phoned, or paid at site, Adult $40, Young Adult $30, Scholastic $20.  USCF membership required.

 

3-day schedule: Reg Fri to 6 pm, rounds Fri 7 pm, Sat 11 & 6, Sun 10 & 4:15.

2-day schedule: Reg. Sat to 10 am, rounds Sat 11, 2:30 & 6, Sun 10 & 4:15.

All: Half point byes OK all rounds, limit 2, Open must commit before rd 2, other sections before rd 3.
