ENTERING ONLINE

Entering online through our secure server shopping cart is safe and easy!

HOW TO ENTER ONLINE:

Click the ONLINE ENTRY link at Chesstour.com, or type www.entry.cc and click the link there.

FOR BEGINNERS who wish to enter one player in one event in the simplest way, without using some of the shopping cart's advanced features, here's how:

1.  Click the tournament name (upper left on first page of shopping cart).  Do not "sign in."

2.  Find the correct fee (you often have a choice of several categories, such as regular or junior).

3.  Click "Buy one now." ("Add to basket" is faster for multiple entries, but less simple).

4.  Fill out the entry form ("missing product attributes") and click "Continue."

5.  Click "Place order without account." (Ignore "log in" and "password," optional features for experienced users).

6.  Fill out "Customer info" for "Ship to,"even though nothing will be shipped. Click "Continue."

7.  Go to "Pay with" and choose type of credit card.  Click "Continue."

8.  Input credit card number.  Select month and year of credit card expiration date.  Click "Continue."

9.  If you see "Thank you for your order," your entry was processed successfully.  Please print out a copy of the invoice that appears and bring it to the tournament, to show in the event you are omitted through error.

FURTHER INFORMATION:

"Store Front" can be used later to return to the homepage for online entry.

"Sign in" and "account" each allow you to sign in with a password, or to create a new account and password.  Note that you are not required to have an account or a password. The advantage of creating an account is that each time you enter online in the future, when you enter your password, the program will know your name, address, phone number and email address, so you will not have to enter all these things again.

"Search" is a handy tool which allows you to find tournaments and memberships without having to look through the entire list.  For example, type in "World" or "World Open" and click "search," and all World Open entry options appear on your screen.  You don't need to type in entire words- "Fox" is sufficient to produce the Foxwoods Open, etc.  "USCF" brings up options for paying USCF dues, and "mem" for paying some state dues as well.  Type in an entry fee (without the dollar sign) and all items with that fee will appear, or type "junior," "senior," "scholastic," or "unrated," and you will see all tournament options that include that word.

"Product List" is another way to find tournament options, displaying all tournaments in alphabetical order, with memberships at the end.  If you reach the end of the first page and do not see the tournament you are looking for, click "next" on the lower right hand corner of the page, and more tournaments will appear.

Using either "search" or "product list," to enter a tournament or purchase a membership, you have the choice between "Add one to basket" or "Buy one now."  Use "Add one to basket" if you are considering additional entries or memberships for you or others, and "Buy one now" if that entry is the only one you are buying at this time.   The easiest way to enter multiple events and/or multiple players is to add every one to your basket and then check out with your credit card only once for the overall total.

Click "Basket Contents" at any time to see what is in your "shopping basket," ready to be purchased.  If you change your mind about any tournament or membership, you can go to "Basket Contents" and remove that item from your basket.

When you have finished using "Add one to basket" for selecting tournaments and/or memberships, click "Checkout" on the right side of the top of the page.  You will be asked to input your credit card information.  After your card is processed online, a screen will appear which you can print and use as a receipt.  Bring this receipt with you to the tournament to quickly prove you have entered in the event of any error.

SAFETY:

There is no reason to be concerned about the safety of your online entry.  Such entries are actually safer than phone entries, because with a phone entry, you must give us your entire credit card number.  While no players have ever reported credit card misuse resulting from our phone entries, there is a theoretical chance that an unauthorized person could hear or see your number.

When you enter online on our secure server, we do not receive your entire card number, only a partial number to help us find the transaction if a later refund is needed.  A computer processes your card online automatically, in an encrypted transaction that an unauthorized person cannot read, even if somehow they have access to it.  So the chances that anyone could somehow learn your number from us are zero, because we don't know your number!
