Continental Chess Association operates an informational website, www.chesstour.com,
and a linked website for online entries, www.chessaction.com.
When you visit either of these sites, our server recognizes your domain name,
but not your email address.
At www.chesstour.com, visitors have the option of adding their email address to our mailing list. These addresses will be used only by Continental Chess Association and will not be shared with any other group. Each email we send will include instructions regarding how you can delete yourself from our mailing list, should you desire to.
Continental Chess operates various tournament specific websites such as worldopen.com, chicagoopen.net, northamericanopen.com, and philadelphiaopen.net. These sites include complete standings of the relevant event. In order to display an accurate permanent record of the tournament, we will not delete the names or results of any participants. If you do not wish to have your results displayed, or the results of someone you have entered displayed, please do not enter the tournament.
At www.chessaction.com, the online entry link from chesstour.com, visitors have the option of entering our chess tournaments on a shopping cart maintained on a secure server. The following information is required:
Name, address, rating, USCF ID number & expiration date. This information is used primarily to verify the entrant's identity and eligibility. We may also sometimes use the address to correct our mailing list, or to submit a USCF or state membership or a prize. Other than possibly providing the address to USCF (United States Chess Federation) or a state chess association for membership purposes, we will not make the address available to other groups.
Date of birth, for juniors, seniors or unrated players. This information is used to verify identity or eligibility.
Email address. Required so that we can contact you if necessary about your entry, but we will not share the address with another group, nor will we add it to our mailing list without your request. To be added to our mailing list, click the icons provided for that purpose at www.chesstour.com; If you enter a tournament on chessaction.com and leave the box checked for adding your email to the list, you will also be added, but there may be a long delay; it is far more effective to click the appropriate icon at www.chesstour.com and immediately place yourself on the list.
Credit card number and expiration date. Necessary to pay your entry fee and/or USCF or state dues, but we do not receive the entire credit card number, only the first four and last four digits. This provides you with a high degree of security, as it makes it impossible for anyone to learn your credit card number from our office.
Phone number. We sometimes use this for emergency contact regarding your entry. We will not use it for marketing purposes or share it with another group.
NOTIFICATION. Should any of the above policies change, we will post notice of the change on this page at least 60 days before the change takes effect. No changes will be retroactive, so in the unlikely event we decide to start sharing information with another group, only information collected after such a policy change would be shared.
