section.  Unrateds must play in Open or Unrated Section.



Open Section: $3000-1500-700-500-300, Under 2400/Unr $1500-1000-500, 

Under 2200 $1500-1000-500. FIDE rated, 120 Grand Prix Points.  Top 11 

players and first woman (if at least 3 pay qualifier fee; otherwise 12 qualify 

with no woman's spot) who are not already eligible qualify for 2002 US 

Championship, Jan 5-13 in Seattle, a 9-round Swiss with 56 players, a $200,000 

prize fund and $1900 to last place!

  

Under 2000:  $2000-1000-500-300-200. 



Under 1800:  $2000-1000-500-300-200. 



Under 1600:  $2000-1000-500-300-200. 



Under 1400:  $2000-1000-500-300-200.



Under 1200:  $1000-500-250-150-100. 



Under 1000:  Trophies to top 8.  This and the Under 800 and Under 600 are not 

scholastic events, but are expected to draw a high percentage of young players. 



Under 800:  Trophies to top 8.



Under 600:  Trophies to top 8.  Events that players rated 400 or 500 can 

win are very rare!



Unrated: Trophies to top 8.  All will obtain ratings.  Provisionally rated 

players are not unrated.



Student/Alumni trophies to top 5 teams of 4 (regardless of section) 

representing any US college, HS, or pre-HS players attend or have graduated 

from.



Open through U1200 entry fees:  3-day $108, 2-day $107 mailed by 11/14, all 

$110 online or phoned by 11/20, $130 at site.  $20 less to juniors under 18.

Re-entry (except Open Section) $60. 
US Championship Qualifier Optional fee: $50 additional for Open Section 

players who wish to be eligible to qualify.  This fee is nonrefundable and

must be paid before starting your first game.



U1000, U800, U600, Unrated Sections entry fees:  $27 mailed by 11/14, $30 

online or phoned by 11/20, $40 at tournament.

10 & 4:30. 



U1000, U800, U600, Unrated schedule: Reg. ends Sat 9 am, rounds Sat 10, 1, 

4; Sun 10, 1, 4:30.
All: No checks at site.  Half-point byes OK all rounds, limit 2. Rds 4-6 

must commit before rd 3.  Those taking half point byes cannot qualify for 

US Championship.  Oct ratings used (Dec if otherwise unrated).  No smoking. 

Bring sets, boards, clocks if possible- none supplied.
