AIR TRAVEL INFORMATION

Prizes $75,000 based on 500 paid entries in U1200 & above; else proportional, minimum $37,500 (half each prize) guaranteed. Seniors, re-entries, GMs, IMs, WGMs, foreign FIDE & Greater NY Scholastics prizewinners in U1200/above  count as half entries). In 8 sections:

Open Section: $7000-4000-2000-1000-700-600-500-400-300-300, clear winner or 1st on tiebreak $200, FIDE 2250-2399 $2000-1000, FIDE Under 2250/Unr $2000-1000. Entry fee for this section is $100 more for US players if not USCF or FIDE rated 2200 or over.

Under 2200/Unr: $4000-2000-1000-700-600-500-400-300-300-300.

Under 2000/Unr: $4000-2000-1000-700-600-500-400-300-300-300.  Unrated limit $1500.

Under 1800: $4000-2000-1000-700-600-500-400-300-300-300.

Under 1600: $3000-1500-1000-600-500-400-300-200-200-200.

Under 1400: $2000-1000-700-500-400-300-300-200-200-200.

Under 1200: $2000-1000-700-500-400-300-300-200-200-200.  

Under 900/Unr: One 2020 Continental Chess free entry to top 3, plaques to top 10, 1st U700, U500, Unr.

Mixed doubles: $1000-600-400-200. Best male/female combined team score, must average under 2200, register at site before both players begin round 2.

Prize limits: 1) Players with under 26 games played as of April 2020 official USCF list may not win over $800 in U1200, $1500 in U1400, $2500 in U1600 or U1800.  Games rated too late for April 2020 list not counted. 2) If any post-event rating posted 4/6/19-4/6/20 was more than 30 points over section maximum, prize limit $1500.  3) Balance of any limited prize goes to next player(s) in line.

Entry fee: $208 online at chessaction.com by 2/21 (deadline extended), $228 online by 4/7, $250 at site. Mailed EF $215 by 2/21, $225 by 3/30, do not mail after 3/30.

Open Section: Entry fee $100 more to US players not USCF or FIDE rated 2200/over. GMs, foreign IMs/WGMs: $180 less ($200 deducted from prize). US IMs/WGMs & FIDE rated foreign players $100 less ($100 deducted from prize). Entry fee deduction cannot lower prize to below the minimum.

Open minimum prize guarantees to players who enter online by 3/25 and play all 9 games with no byes: US GM $300, foreign GM $700, foreign IM/WGM $400, foreign FM/WIM $300.

Under 900/Unr Section entry fee: $68 online at chessaction.com by 4/7, $73 mailed by 3/30, $80 at site.

Seniors 65/over in U1200 or above: All EF $100 less.
CSCA members: Online EF $4 less.

Re-entry
$100; no re-entry from Open Section to Open Section.

5-day schedule (Open through U1400): Reg. ends Wed 6 pm, rds. Wed. 7 pm, Thu 11 am & 6 pm, Fri 10 am & 5 pm, Sat 10 am & 5 pm, Sun 10 am & 4:30 pm.

4-day U2200 schedule: Reg. ends Thu 9 am, rds Thu 10 am, 2 pm & 6 pm, merges with 5-day Thu 6 pm.

4-day U2000 through U1400 schedule: Reg. ends Thu 6 pm, rds. Thu 7 pm, Fri 10 am, 12:15 pm, 2:30 pm & 5 pm, merges with 5-day Fri 5 pm.

3-day U1200 and U900 schedule: Reg. ends Fri 9 am, rds Fri 10 am, 1:30 pm & 5 pm, Sat 10 am, 1:30 pm & 5 pm, Sun 10 am, 1:15 pm & 4:30 pm. 

Half point byes OK all rounds; limit 4 (limit 2 in last 4 rounds), must commit before round 4.

For all tournaments, adjusted FIDE or foreign ratings, if higher than USCF, may be used. Players must disclose FIDE or foreign ratings when entering, or may later be expelled. Other over the board ratings such as club, league, scholastic, state or province, etc, adjusted if appropriate, may be used at our discretion if above USCF.  No rating below the latest official USCF rating, on the list corresponding to the ending date of the tournament, will be used. Ratings: April FIDE ratings used in Master Section, April official USCF ratings in other sections. Unofficial uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. Players must reveal foreign, FIDE and other over the board ratings, and these ratings, adjusted if necessary, may be used, if higher than USCF. See also above.

Hotel rates: Grand Pequot Tower (tournament site, very luxurious): Friday & Saturday $205, other days $149. Fox Tower (formerly MGM Grand, 5-7 minute walk from tournament in connected building): Friday & Saturday $175, other days $119. Two Trees Inn (15-20 minute walk from tournament, free shuttle): Friday & Saturday $145, other days $99. For all, $4.95 resort fee, includes high speed wired internet, fitness center, pool, spa, in room coffee & tea, etc.
