26th annual Pittsburgh Open.  A US Chess Heritage Event, 5-Round Swiss, 40/80, SD/30; d30 (2-day option, rounds 1-2 G/60, d10), Doubletree Green Tree, 500 Mansfield Ave. (near I-376 Exit 67), Pittsburgh, PA 15205.  Free parking.

In 5 sections:

    Major (1900/up, see peakrating.us): $1300-700-400-300, clear/tiebreak winner $100 bonus, top USCF U2300 $500-250. FIDE rated.

    Under 2100: $1000-500-300-200, top under 1900/Unr $400-200. FIDE rated.

Under 1800: $900-500-300-200, top under 1600 (no unr) $350-180.

Under 1500: $800-400-300-200, top under 1300 (no unr) $300-150.

Under 1200: $500-300-200-100, top under 1000 (no unr) $180-90.

 

Unrated limits: U1200 $100, U1500 $200, U1800 $400.

 

Mixed Doubles Bonus Prizes: best male+female 2-player “team” combined score among all sections: $600-300. Must average under 2200; may play different sections and schedules; register (no extra fee) by 2 pm Sat.  Prize limits do not apply to Mixed Doubles prizes.

Cannot play below USCF Online Regular Rating – 100 points.

World Open rule: Players who scored 8 or more points in 2025 World Open U2200 or below must enter higher section than in World Open.

Top 4 sections entry fee: $118 at chessaction.com by 7/16, $130 later online or at site, until an hour before round 1. GMs free, $100 deducted from prize.

Under 1200 Section entry fee: all $20 less than top 4 sections.

Re-entry $50 (no Major to Major).

For all tournaments, adjusted FIDE or foreign ratings, if higher than USCF, may be used. Players must disclose FIDE or foreign ratings when entering, or may later be expelled. Other over the board ratings such as club, league, scholastic, state or province, etc, adjusted if appropriate, may be used at our discretion if above USCF.  No rating below the latest official USCF rating, on the list corresponding to the ending date of the tournament, will be used. For 9 round events offering title norm possibilities, FIDE ratings are used. Click here for further details.

Ratings: July official USCF ratings used. Unofficial or Regular Online uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated.

Players must reveal foreign, FIDE and other over the board ratings, and these ratings, adjusted, if necessary, may be used, if higher than USCF. See also above.

3-day schedule: Reg. Fri to 6 pm, rounds. Fri 7, Sat 11 & 5, Sun 10 & 3:30.
2-day schedule:
Reg. Sat to 10 am, rounds. Sat 11, 2 & 5, Sun 10 & 3:30.
Half point byes:
OK all rounds, limit 2; must commit before round 2.
