    6-round Swiss, G/60 d10, open to grades K-8; top NYS player and school team in each Championship Section are NY State champions. In 12 sections:  click here for game locations of specific sections. 

    Four separate playing locations. 

    Middle School (K-8) Championship, K-8 Under 1700 and K-8 Under 1300 Sections are at Courtyard by Marriott, 11 Excelsior Ave., Saratoga Springs NY 12866 (2/5 mile from Saratoga Hilton).

    NOTE: The K-8 Under 900 Section will be held at the Saratoga City Center. 

    Other 8 sections for grades 5/below at Saratoga Hilton and adjacent Saratoga City Center (connected by indoor walkway), 534 Broadway (I-87 Exit 13-N, 4 miles north on US 9), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866,

    except the K-5 Championship Section is scheduled to be held at the Saratoga Music Hall, 474 Broadway (2˝ blocks south of Convention Center on Broadway).  Sections at Hilton/City Center may be limited to a total of about 1,200 players, sections at about Marriott 320 players.

Team prizes based on top 4 scores from same school. Teams of 2 or 3 players allowed, but are at a disadvantage.

Online entry fee at chessaction.com, all sections: $120 per player by 2/7 (space permitting), $160 2/8 - 2/23 (space permitting), $220 from 2/24 until advance online registration closes (space permitting).  REGISTRATION MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THESE DATES DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS.  IF registration is still open, the entry fee after advance online registration closes (and on-site, if available) is $250.   ON-SITE ENTRIES MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR.

 

Middle School (K-8) Championship, open to all in grades 8 and below. Top NY State player in grade 6-8 born after 9/1/10 (correction as per US Chess Scholastic Regulations) qualifies for the Barber National Tournament of State K-8 Champions.

K-8 Under 1700/Unr,  K-8 Under 1300/Unr,  K-8 Under 900/Unr Sections.

 

Elementary (K-5) Championship, open to all in grades 5 and below. Top NY State K-5 player born after 9/1/13 (correction as per US Chess Scholastic Regulations) qualifies for the Rockefeller National Tournament of State K-5 Champions.

K-5 Under 1400/Unr,  K-5 Under 1000/Unr,  K-5 Under 600/Unr Sections.

 

Primary (K-3) Championship, open to all in grades 3 and below.  Top NY State K-3 player born after 9/1/15 (correction as per US Chess Scholastic Regulations) qualifies for the Ashley National Tournament of State K-3 Champions.          

K-3 Under 800/Unr Section.

K-1 Championship, open to all in grades 1/below.

K-1 Under 400/Unr Section.

 

USCF Membership Required.  Special 1 year USCF dues with magazine if paid online with entry: see chessaction.com

 

Trophies, medals or plaques to top 10 players and top 5 teams each section, top 2 unrated in Under 900, Under 800, Under 600 and U400 sections, and top 2 each U1800, U1600, U1400 (K-8 Championship), U1500 (K-8 Under 1700 Section), U1100 (K-8 Under 1300 Section), U700, U500, U300 (K-8 Under 900 Section), U1700, U1500 (Elem Championship), U1200, U1000 (Elem U1400), U800, U700 (Elem U1000), U500, U400, U300 (Elem U600), U1400, U1200, U1000 (K-3 Championship), U600, U500, U400, U300 (K-3 U800), U800, U600, U400 (K-1 Championship), U300, U200 (K-1 U400). Speed playoff if perfect 6-0 score tie.

 

Free/Reduced Entry Fee Prizes (ONLY for NY players or players attending NY schools):  to all CCA OTB tournaments (World Open and Philadelphia International are $100 off instead):  Championship sections, 8 months to 1st, 6 months 2nd, 4 months each to 3rd & 4th.  Other sections, 6 months to 1st, 4 months 2nd, 3 months to 3rd & 4.  2 months Bonus free/reduced-price entry to New York players with 6-0 scores! Some CCA events also have minimum rating requirements and/or additional surcharges, based on rating, to play in the top sections; the free/reduced entry fee prizes do not cover any such additional surcharges for playing up in the top sections.

 

Schedule: Rounds begin Sat 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm; Sun 9 am, 12 noon, 3 pm. Awards: about 5:30 pm Sun.

 

Recipients are responsible for arranging for their own delivery or replacements of awards not claimed at site.

Half point byes OK all, limit 2, must commit before round 2.

PLAYERS MAY NOT POSSESS CELLPHONES DURING PLAY. Please leave your phone home, in your hotel room or car, or in a bag at your table. 

 

Hotel rates : Hilton $189-189, two nights minimum.  Parking: $6 up to 4 hours daytime (no charge for 1st hour), $12 over 4 hours or overnight. Courtyard Marriott: $169-169, two nights minimum. 7 days’ notice required for room cancellations at Hilton, 14 days’ notice required at Courtyard. Free parking at Courtyard Marriot (subject to space availability).  Hotels may again have availability closer to event due to late cancellations.

Enter online: www.chessaction.com. No mailed or email entries. $15 per player service charge for refunds. Section switches subject to $20 extra charge after 2/23.  All substitutions from advance list charged late fee and are subject to space limitations; no section switching or substitutions after 5 pm 3/5.

March official ratings used (except unofficial web ratings or Online Regular Ratings usually used if otherwise unrated). TD reserves right to assign estimated rating to players with non-USCF or online ratings.  Players with Online Regular Ratings more than 100 points over their Official Over-The-Board ratings may be assigned a higher tournament rating and may also be required to play in a higher section (TD may use USCF Scholastic Regulations for guidance).
