We keep hearing from players who count the number of advance entries in a section or schedule and worry that there are not enough and the section or schedule will be canceled. There is usually no need to be concerned, as the final entry total is often much greater than what is posted a few days before.

For example, for the Hartford Open Sept 25-27, 2015, with a few days to go before the advance entry deadline, the Open Section had just 2 entries, and we started receiving "what if no one else enters" emails. But the final total of entries for this section was 25 !
What if a section actually winds up with just 2 or 3 total entries? This is very rare, but if it happens, players would be paired against each other two or three times. The section is never canceled, unless all players agree to an alternate arrangement.
