UPDATE REGARDING CORONAVIRUS:

Tournaments listed at chessevents.us without saying "cancelled" will hopefully be held; if a tournament is cancelled this will be posted. The answer to the question of whether or not a publicized tournament is cancelled is to watch chessevents.us.

The following applies once the virus threat decreases and our tournaments resume.

Players will be told to not shake hands before or after play.
Players are asked to bring and use hand sanitizer and extra sanitizer will be available.
Players who appear to be ill may be removed from the tournament.

PLAYERS, PLEASE ALSO NOTE:

Masks were originally not recommended by health authorities, but this guidance appears to have changed and they are now considered to help those who are ill to avoid spreading the virus.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the bathroom, eating, blowing your nose, sneezing, coughing, or if your hands are visibly dirty. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
