Free GM lecture Saturday 9:30 am.  PLEASE DISREGARD THE OBSOLETE DETAILS IN THE DEC & JAN ISSUES OF CHESS LIFE, AND the ERRONEOUS "7SS" IN THE MARCH AND APRIL ISSUES.  Only the February issue is entirely correct.  We were forced to change the schedule because the hotel erroneously double booked meeting rooms on Monday to both the chess tournament and another group.

Prizes $150,000 based on 800 paid entries; else proportional, minimum $100,000 (2/3 of each prize) guaranteed. Unrated players, re-entries, GMs count as 1/2 entry toward prize fund. In 7 sections:

Open Section: $15000-8000-4000-2500-1500-1000-800-600-500-500, clear winner bonus $300, 2300-2499 $3000-1500-700, Under 2300/Unr $3000-1500-700. If tie for first, top 2 on tiebreak play speed game (white 7 minutes, black 5 minutes & gets draw odds) for title & bonus prize. A US Championship Qualifier; details later. FIDE rated.

Under 2200 Section: $8000-4000-2500-1500-1000-800-700-600-500-500.

Under 2000 Section: $8000-4000-2500-1500-1000-800-700-600-500-500.

Under 1800 Section: $8000-4000-2500-1500-1000-800-700-600-500-500.

Under 1600 Section: $7000-4000-2500-1500-1000-800-700-600-500-500.

Under 1400 Section: $5000-2500-1500-1200-1000-800-700-600-500-500.

Under 1200 Section: $3000-1500-1000-800-700-600-500-500-400-400, top Under 1000 $1200-600. Under 1000s play for both U1000 & U1200 prizes; receive larger if winning both.

Unrated may enter any section, but may not win over $200 in U1200, $300 U1400, $400 U1600, $500 U1800, $600 U2000, or $700 U2200.

Prize limits: 1) Players with under 26 games played as of 4/06 list may not win over $1000 U1200, $2000 U1400, $3000 U1600 through U2200. Games rated too late for 4/06 list not counted. 2) If more than 100 pts over section maximum on any list 12/04 or after, prize limit $1000. 3) If 1400/over established after 12/01, Under 1200 prize limit $500. 4) Balance of any limited prize goes to next player(s) in line.

Mailed entry fee: 4-day $244, 3-day $243, 2-day $242 if mailed by 5/18, all $280 at site. No checks at site, credit cards OK.

USCF membership required.  ICA membership required for Illinois reesidents.

Advance entry fee minus $10 service charge refunded for withdrawals who give notice at least 1 hour before rd 1 (no service charge if fee applied to future CCA tmts).

4-day schedule: Reg. ends Thu 6 pm, rds. Thu 7 pm, Fri 7, Sat 11-6, Sun 10-4:30.
3-day schedule: Reg. ends Fri 11 am, rds Fri 12-7, Sat 11-6, Sun 10-4:30.
2-day schedule: Reg. ends Sat 9 am, rds Sat 10-12:45-3-6, Sun 10-4:30.
All: 4-day & 3-day schedules merge after round 1; 2-day merges after rd 3; all compete for same prizes. Byes: all; limit 3, Open must commit before rd 2, lower sections must commit before rd 4.

Foreign player ratings: 100 points added to FIDE, 100 to FQE, 200/more to most other foreign, no pts added to CFC or Jamaica.  Most foreign ratings other than CFC, FQE or Jamaica not accepted for Under 1800 or below. Highest of multiple ratings usually used.
